Procter and Gamble Expands in Edwardsville
Edwardsville , IL - Procter and Gamble (P&G) has signed a six-year lease with Trammell Crow Company in Gateway Commerce Center, one of the Midwest's prime locations for companies in the warehousing and distribution sectors.
P&G is expanding its operations to increase warehouse space and bring a new customizing operation to the business park that has become hugely popular as a location for large warehousing facilities ranging from 500,000 square feet to more than one million square feet.
"This announcement reinforces that Edwardsville is a prime location for logistics in the United States" said Edwardsville Mayor Gary Niebur. "We welcome the opportunity to put our citizens to work and increase their quality of life."
Madison County Board Chairman Alan Dunstan is pleased with the outcome of this project. "The Edwardsville and Glen Carbon community has put together a team of professionals to ensure the success of this expansion. Madison County, the Alliance and the City of Edwardsville have been integral in bringing this project to fruition."
"Truly this is further indication of our business climate and the geographic advantage the St. Louis metro area offers global competition," said Erika Kennett, executive director of the Alliance of Edwardsville and Glen Carbon. "Successfully keeping their expansion efforts local is a testament to the quality development opportunities and workforce of the Edwardsville- Glen Carbon area."
In addition to standard product warehousing, P&G products made in the St. Louis area such as Downy, Febreeze and Mr. Clean will be customized into packages for sale around the country.
P&G will be moving product into two existing 500,000-square-foot buildings, Westway I and Westway III on May 2008. Contegra Construction has been contracted to expand Westway III to 1,157,000 square feet. This allows P&G to then consolidate this new warehousing and customization operation into one building. Following the expansion, Westway I will be available for lease.
