St. Louis Area Population and Demographics

The bi-state metropolitan area includes eight counties in both Missouri and Illinois, for a total of 16 counties. The current population estimate is 2,803,033 as of July 1, 2006 according to the “Population Estimates for Metropolitan, Micropolitan, and Combined Statistical Areas" by the U.S. Census Bureau. This ranks St. Louis area as the 18th largest metropolitan area in the United States.
