St. Charles County, Mo. and the City of St. Louis are engaged in an effort to be among the first all-wireless areas in the nation. In 2007, St. Charles County began the first phase of a 3-year full implementation plan to offer wireless Internet access, WiFi, Broadband, and cutting-edge WiMax technology to the St. Louis metro area.  If successful, more accessible Internet connectivity could create an advantage over surrounding areas such as Chicago, Indianapolis and other cities that were not able to implement similar plans.
